Mafwila Appointed Cro for Khomas

The Khomas Regional Council has appointed long-serving employee Clement Mafwila as the Chief Regional Officer (CRO) for Khomas after the position remained vacant since the resignation of former CRO, Dr Ben Mulongeni, in November 2013.

Mafwila’s appointment is effective from January 1 this year.

Khomas Regional Council spokesperson, Lydia Shifa, said the newly appointed CRO has been with the Khomas Regional Council for the past 11 years serving in different capacities, adding that prior to his appointment he was the Director of General Services at the Khomas Regional Council.

Shifa revealed that Mafwila acted as CRO between 2009 and 2010, before the appointment of his predecessor, Mulongeni. Furthermore, he worked as Internal Auditor and Deputy Commissioner of Finance at the Namibian Police.

She added that Mafwila possesses solid experience in the public sector, which she hopes will add valuable and expertise to the Khomas Regional Council, as it strives to meet its development goals. The new CRO holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Administration specialising in Decentralisation and Public Sector Reform.

Mafwila expressed his gratitude saying, “I am pleased and ready to navigate Khomas Regional Council through the rapidly changing political environment to achieve its mission of becoming a well-developed, knowledgeable and peaceful region in Namibia.”
