Mafwila Appointed Khomas Chief

KHOMAS Regional Council has appointed Clement Mafwila its chief regional officer.

Mafwila’s appointment is effective from the beginning of the month. He replaces Ben Mulongeni who resigned in November 2013.

Mafwila has been with the Khomas Regional Council for the past 11 years serving in different capacities and prior to his appointment he was the council’s director of general services.

He also served as acting chief regional officer between 2009 and 2010, before Mulongeni’s appointment.

Confirming the appointment, Lydia Atuhe Shifa, the chief public relations officer at the Khomas Regional Council, said Mafwila has vast experience in the public sector which she says will add valuable expertise to the council as it strives to meet its development goals.

“I am pleased and ready to navigate the Khomas Regional Council through the rapidly changing political environment to achieve its mission of becoming a well-developed, knowledgeable and peaceful region in Namibia,” said Mafwila.

Before joining the council, Mafwila worked as Internal Auditor and Deputy Commissioner of Finance with the Namibian Police.

He holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy and Administration specialising in Decentralisation and Public Sector Reform.
