Man dies from stab wounds at Otjiwarongo

OTJIWARONGO: A 34-year-old man died on Friday at Otjiwarongo, after he was allegedly stabbed in the throat with a sharp object by unknown assailant.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Public Relations Officer, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha identified the deceased as Ismael Upingasana.

‘Upingasana’s relatives are informed,’ Mbeha told Nampa on enquiry on Friday.

She said Upingasana was lastly spotted at Kuhanga Bar in Orwetoveni residential area in the early hours of Friday morning.

According to her, the police’s preliminary investigations indicate that Upingasana had left the bar walking alone shortly after 24h00 on Friday morning.

Mbeha said at approximately 01h15 on Friday morning, a passerby found Upingasana’s body by the four-way stop near the Swanevelder Community Hall in Orwetoveni.

He had two stab wounds – on his forehead and throat.

The police were called to the scene.

Mbeha said the deceased’s cellphone, N.dollars 12, and also a half-emptied bottle of Tafel Lager were found with the body.

No arrest has been made in connection with this murder incident.

Police investigations continue.
