Mannetti challenges players to beat Madagascar

MORULENG: Brave Warrior coach Ricardo Mannetti has called on his players to step a gear up if they are to reach the final of the Council of Southern African Football Association (COSAFA) cup.

Namibia plays Madagascar in the first semi-finals at the Moruleng Stadium at 16:00 Namibian time and the winner of the match will meet either Botswana or Mozambique who will play in the second semi of the day.

The Cosafa final will be played at the Moruleng Stadium on Saturday at 16:30 Namibian time.

Speaking to Nampa ahead of the game Mannetti said if the players bring their best with Madagascar they will not have a difficult game.

“We are in the semi-finals but I am still not happy with some of the players individual performance, because they are still not giving it their best and I told them if we are to have an easy game against Madagascar today they need to shift to that gear they have been holding too and we will win this game with ease but if they don’t we will then struggle,” said the coach.

The coach did not make any changes to the squad that previously played Zambia in the quarter-finals.

The starting team is:

Goalkeeper: Virgil Vries

Defenders: Ananias Gebhardt; Willem Mwedihanga; Chris Katjiukua; and Ronald Katjijere

Midfielders: Deon Hotto; Wangu Gomes, Petrus Shitembi and Denzil Haoseb

Forward: Peter Shalulile and Benson Shilongo
