Mannetti makes three changes to Namibian team

MORULENG: Brave Warriors coach Ricardo Mannetti made three changes to the team ahead of their second game in the Council of Southern African Football Association (Cosafa) Cup on Tuesday evening.

Namibia was set to play Mauritius at the Moruleng Stadium at 18h30 Namibian time.

The annual football tournament is being played in the North West Province of South Africa.

Mannetti brought in Denzil Haoseb for Dennis Tjetjinda; Benson Shilongo for Nicky Musambani and Itamunua Keimuine for injured Hendrik Somaeb.

Speaking to Nampa ahead of the game, the coach said he has picked a team that he expects to ‘attack’ their opponents and possibly get the goals they have been looking for.

“Today I decided to rest some players and start with an attack-minded team as we need to win this game ahead of our clash with Zimbabwe in our last group game. I put in Benson with the hope of scoring goals from the chances that will be created in the game and as for Denzil, I will only have three defenders, because Mauritius might also park the bus just like Seychelles did in our opening game,” said Mannetti.

Namibia drew its first game of the tournament 0-0 with Seychelles.

The starting squad is as follows:

Goalkeeper: Virgil Vries

Defenders: Ananias Gebhardt; Willem Mwedihanga; Chris Katjiukua; and Ronald Katjijere

Midfielders: Deon Hotto; Wangu Gomes, Petrus Shitembi and Denzil Haoseb

Forward: Benson Shilongo and Itumunua Keimuine
