Martin Freyer wins the Yambu Cycle Mountain Bike Challange

WINDHOEK; The second edition of the Yambu Cycle Mountain Bike Challenge concluded on Saturday here, with Martin Freyer crowned the overall winner of the event.

The event, which attracted over 150 cyclists, was held at Itumba lodge on the outskirts of Windhoek.

The mountain bike challenge was initiated by Trusco Namibia in 2013 through its life insurance policy division, with the aim of promoting a healthy living for its clients and the general public.

Freyer finished the three stages of the race in a time of 0:23:45.48 to be crowned the overall winner of the Ultra Enduro men challenge.

Heinrich Kohne came second with the time of 0:25:26.25, while Andreas Ewald finished third in a time of 0:26:43.55.

In the elite women category, only one rider – Wanette Hanekom – took part.

She finished the race in a time of 33:41.17.

Michelle Vorster won the Sub-Veteran Ultra Women category with the time of 0:30:03.49 to be crowned the overall winner in the women category.

The overall winners of the men and women category each walked away with a prize monies of N.dollars 30 000.
