Minister urges women to make use of available opportunities to arm themselves and their children with education

WINDHOEK: Minister of Education, Arts and Culture, Katrina Hanse-Himarwa has urged women to make use of available opportunities to arm themselves and their children with education.

The minister made this call at the Women of Importance inspirational evening held in the capital on Saturday.

Addressing the women in attendance at the event, Hanse-Himarwa said while on a familiarization tour at a school in the Hardap Region, she told learners they can receive handouts such as food and clothing, but all handouts come to an end eventually.

She that when people arm themselves, they ensure that their children are educated, that’s the only way they can ensure that poverty is erased from the face of society.

Hanse-Himarwa called on mothers to ensure that their children attend school and become well-educated, skilled people, adding that she said the government has made primary education free, while as from January next year secondary education will be free as well.
