Mozambican Under-20 national team sent Namibia’s Young Warriors packing in their second leg tie of 2015 CAF Youth Championship

WINDHOEK: The Mozambican Under-20 national team sent Namibia’s Young Warriors packing in their second leg tie of the 2015 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Youth Championship qualifiers yesterday.

The encounter, which was the second leg of the qualifiers’ preliminary round after Mozambique won the first leg on 05 April 2-1, was a chance for the Young Warriors to build on their away goal and increase their chances of progressing to the 19th CAF Youth Championship to be hosted in Senegal from 08 to 22 March 2015.

But it was not meant to be as two brilliant goals outside the box from Mozambican midfielder Germino Eduardo, in the 52nd and 90th minutes, found the top right corner of the net, giving Namibian keeper Donovan Gainub no chance of stopping it.

Namibia found their goal in the 75th minute of the game through Henry Duwe, but that single goal was not enough as the Young Warriors needed to score two more goals to take the game into extra time.

That however did not materialise as the game ended 2-1 in favour of Mozambique, winning the two encounters 4-2 on aggregate.

Saturday’s match took place at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
