Mr, Miss Red Cross Youth Have Bigger Plans

Mr and Miss Red Cross Youth Namibia 2014, Romanus Kanyanga and Petrina Matheus, crowned recently, are already embarking on a journey to help vulnerable youths around the country.

Ever since the crowning, both have shown the necessary eagerness to not only aspire but stand up and help those who cannot help themselves. Romanus says he is basically the face of the Namibia Red Cross Society (NRCS). “I will try to open more NRCS around the country so that more youths in Namibia get involved in Red Cross activities and services. By getting more youths involved we will be able to give then training not just to benefit Red Cross but also to improve their individual skills,” he says. He adds that winning the title was one of his biggest achievements, especially to be announced as the ambassador of NRCS.

Petrina says she has bigger plans and cannot reveal anything yet for certain reasons but her plans are very ambitious and will benefit almost everyone. “Receiving the crown, it was like the most awesome thing in my life ever. I feel so blessed and very excited at the same time. Winning as Miss Red Cross Youth Nam 2014 is a big title and winning it means a lot to me. Being an ambassador for such an organisation is a big platform and a door to meet people with the same dreams, as well as to help them,” says Petrina.

Romanus was born on June 20, 1992 in the south in a small town of Mariental and is currently a final year student at the Polytechnic of Namibia (PoN) while Petrina was born on February 13, 1995 in Oshakati where she also grew up. She says modeling has always been passion for her since she was very young.
