MVA plans mini-interventions during 2015

WINDHOEK: The Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVA Fund) plans to conduct mini interventions at peak seasons to reduce road accidents in 2015.

The fund Chief Executive Officer, Rosalia Martins-Hausiku told Nampa Tuesday that the fund in collaboration with the Namibian Police Force (NamPol), City Police, Road Authority (RA) and the Namibia Road Safety Council (NRSC) have been contemplating setting up mini-campaigns during crucial months of April (Easter), May (Cassinga Day), August (Heroes’ Day and the Ongwediva Trade Fair).

According to the data recorded by the fund’s call centre, these are the fatal months where a lot of accident occur.

Martins-Hausiku further said the fund and its stakeholders will try to put resources together in order to reduce the number of accidents usually encountered during these months.

She also said the fund will carry on a research to establish actual causes of accidents and help understand behavioural patterns of road users.
