NAMAs entries open

WINDHOEK: The organizers of the annual Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) has called on music artists to submit their entries for the 2015 edition of the NAMAs as from today, (Wednesday, 12 November) until 15 December 2014.

The 2015 NAMAs is scheduled for 01 and 02 May 2015 at possible venues at Swakopmund or Ongwediva who have expressed interest to host the NAMAs.

According to a media release issued by NAMAs organizers, the Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) and the Namibia Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) here on Wednesday, to enter for the 2015 edition of the NAMAs, artists should have released a commercial album between the 01 December 2013 and 31st November 2014.

It added that as last year, artists may only enter into a maximum of two music genre categories, excluding entries/nominations for Best Music Video, Best Single, Best Collaboration, Best Group/Duo, Best Newcomer, Most Socially Responsible Artist of the Year, International Achievement Award where applicable as these categories are not music genre specific.

It also excludes any nominations for Best Male or Female Artist of the Year as recommended by

the Judges and the public vote categories.

New categories such as the Best Musical Event has also been introduced and will be judged and voted for exclusively by the public on the opinions of what they view or believed to have been the best

musical event, by means of organization, planning, attendance, quality and delivery standards during the period of 1st December 2013 to 31st November 2014.

Another new category, it added is the Best Song with a Message, a judges vote category on what they believe is a song that has an impact message to society and artists will be required to motivate and

submit lyrics of the song.

The prize monies for the Best Male and Female Category is N. dollars 100,000.

The NAMAs exist to recognize accomplishment in the Namibian recording industry by celebrating those groups and individuals who have excelled in the past year.

Artists can collect entry forms from the MTC or NBC offices and can be submitted electronically at www.nama.com.na or manually at MTC Head Office in Olympia, Windhoek at the corner of Hamutenya Ndadi Wanahepo and Mose Tjitendero Street or any NBC Offices country wide.
