NAMAs Nominees Announcement Live on TV Today

The nominees for the 2014 Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) will be announced during a live broadcast on Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) television today.

An executive committee member of the NAMAs, Tim Ekandjo said in a media statement on Wednesday that 37 categories will be announced, with a maximum of six nominees in every category, except for the six public voting categories – Best Live Performance, Most Popular Artist, Most Disciplined Artist, Entertainment Journalist, Entertainment Radio Disk Jockey (DJ) and Most Socially Responsible Artist of the Year categories.

All other categories of nominees have been determined purely by the judges’ votes.

Ekandjo said that once the nominees are announced, only the Song of the Year category will be open for public voting – until 3 May – while other categories can be considered closed.

“Every NAMAs event comes with its own surprises, but I must hint that we have a lot of new players emerging, which makes for an exciting list of nominees,” he said.

He then encouraged the public to take full aantage of the ‘early bird’ NAMAs special of N$200 for a standard ticket and N$450 for a ‘Very Important Person’ (VIP) ticket, which ends today.

As from 1 April, tickets will return to the normal prices of N$250 for standard tickets and N$500 for VIP tickets.

The NAMAs will take place on 2 and 3 May in Swakopmund.
