MORULENG: Namibia’s ‘Brave Warriors’ drew their opening match against Seychelles in the Council of Southern African Football Associations (Cosafa) Cup Sunday in the North-West Province of South Africa.

The match played at the Moruleng Stadium ended 0-0.

Namibia’s Nicky Musambani came close to scoring in the opening minutes of the game after a mistake between Seychelles’ goalkeeper, Jose Euphrasie, and his defence but the ball went out of play.

Hendrik Somaeb also came closed to scoring Namibia’s opener but his effort was saved by Euphrasie.

In the second half, Namibia continued dominating the game but still misfired.

Both teams managed to collect one point from their Group A game.

Namibia will play Mauritius at the same venue Tuesday at 18h00 Namibian time.

Namibia’s senior national football coach Ricardo Mannetti was visibly disappointed with his team’s lack of scoring.

“Today, we showed the same old story of dominating the game and failing to score. I cannot take this anymore, I really don’t know how these players expect to win the game if they don’t score,” he told the media after the match.

The coach added that people should not rule Namibia out of the tournament, as the team might surprise everyone in their next games.

“We have been training on goal scoring for a couple of weeks now but I don’t understand why we failed to score from all the chances we created. We are not going to be pressing any panic buttons ahead of our next game and I know my players are aware of what is expected of them in this tournament, so let us wait for the next round and see,” said Mannetti.
