Namibia Embarrass Zambia At Cosafa Tournament

Unheralded Namibia today humiliated Zambia’s Chipolopolo from the COSAFA Cup in South Africa with a 5-4 penalty shoot-out result following a goalless draw in regulation time.

The quarterfinal match was played at Moruleng Stadium in Rustenburg becoming the country’s first loss to Namibia in any competitive match at senior level.

With a plethora of talent some of which were part of the 2012 Africa Cup winning team, Zambia struggled to live up to expectation.

It was Israel based defender Emmanuel Mbola who ballooned his spot kick and offer the difference the Namibians scored all their penalties through Henrich Isaacks, Willy Stephanus, Willem Mwendihanga, Chris Keijijere and Deon Hotto to march to the semifinals.

Kennedy Mweene, Aaron Katebe, Jimmy Ndhlovu and Kondwani Mtonga converted for Zambia.

Another major upset of the tournament saw Botswana eliminate South Africa via penalties.
