Namibia Wrap Up 114-Run Victory

Namibia completed a comprehensive 114-run victory against Hong Kong on Wednesday to start their Intercontinental Cup campaign on a winning start.

Starting the day with an improbable victory target of 302 runs, Hong Kong slumped to 102 for seven wickets before a valiant rear guard action revived their hopes of an upset win. innings. But the target was too big and they were eventually all out for 187 runs.

Afzal went on to score 38 before being removed by Burger, while Amjad shared a ninth wicket partnership of 48 runs with Ehsan Nawaz.

Namibian captain Nicolaas Scholtz however struck with two wickets off successive balls in his first over to complete Namibia’s victory.

He had Amjab caught by Burger for 41 and then trapped Nadeem Ahmed LBW for a duck off the next ball to dismiss Hong Kong for 187 runs and complete a 114-run victory.

Bernard Scholtz was Namibia’s top bowler, taking 353 off 24 overs, while Coombe took 229 off 14 overs, Burger 238 off 16 overs and Nicolaas Scholtz 20 off two balls.
