Namibian Archers Win First Medals

Namibia’s top archers continue to excel at the 64th annual South African National Archery Championships currently taking place at Marks Park Sports Club in Johannesburg.

On Wednesday, 2 April, the eliminations for individuals and team were held and the matches won were as follows:

Gold Medal — Ilana Malan and Louw Nel (Mixed Team)

Silver Medal – Elisabeth Taljaard and Hendrik van Eeden (Cadet Mixed Team)

Silver Medal – Louw Nel, Francois Marais and Lesley Page (Compound Men)

Silver Medal – Hendrik van Eeden, Sebastian Fechter and Jackson Engel (Compound Cadet Men)

In the Mixed Team event, Namibia beat a g mixed team from Germany in the semifinals to qualify for the final where they once again beat the South African team.

Gold Medal – Xander Reddig (Recurve Cadet Men)

Gold Medal – Hanneacute Snyman (Compound Girls U13)

Bronze Medal – Hendrik van Eeden (Compound Cadet Men)

On Thursday, 3 April, Francois Marais will be shooting in the bronze medal match for Compound Men, while Elisabeth Taljaard (Compound Cadet Women), Ruan van Staden (Compound Junior Men) and Jackson Engel (Compound Cadet Men) will be shooting in the gold medal match.
