Namibia’s under-20 rugby team still in contention to qualify for next year’s IRB JWRC

WINDHOEK: Namibia’s under-20 rugby team is still in contention to qualify for next year’s International Rugby Board (IRB) Junior World Cup (JWRC) in Italy.

The Namibians beat Canada 37-25 in their opening match of the 2014 IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy tournament underway in Hong Kong on Monday.

Namibia’s head coach Jan Dames was quoted in a media statement from the Namibian Rugby Union today that his team was well prepared for their opening game.

He said to get a first win in the opening game of the tournament against Canada comes down to guts and character.

The Namibians are now facing Japan tomorrow and Uruguay on Tuesday.

The Japanese narrowly lost to Uruguay (28-33) in their opening game on Monday. (NAMPA)
