Navachab Half Marathon On Saturday

Namibia’s leading long-distancce athletes wil descend on the small western town of Karibib on Saturday for the inaugural edition of the Navachab Mine Half Marathon, which will be an annual event.

The race will be the first of its kind in that neck of the woods and is likely to attract elite athletes and many would-be long distance runners, while casual athletes and health fanatics are also welcome to enter.

Great prizes are up for grabs for the first three runners to cross the finish line in the different age categories.

The first group of runners start at 07h30 on Saturday from the Usab sports field in Karibib.

Entrance fee is N$20 for registered and non- registered athletes as well as junior athletes, while senior athletes will fork out N$30.

Transport from different regions is to be provided by the ministry of youth and sport, and accommodation will be at the Youth Hostel in Usakos for those who can’t afford their own.
