New Okalongo Police Station Officially Opened

THE Minister of Safety and Security, Immanel Ngatjizeko, officially opened a new police station in Okalongo last week.

The minister was accompanied by his permanent secretary Ndeutala Angolo, Police Chief Lieutenant General Sebastian Ndeitunga and Omusati Police Commander Shinedima Shindinge as well as other police commanders.

Ngatjizeko called on the police to establish a good relationship with the members of the community and to be serious with their work, especially in combating crimes in that area, such as assault with intend to do grievous bodily harm, housebreaking with intent to steal and theft, common assault, crimen injuria and malicious damage to properties. He further mentioned the increase of alcohol and drug use among Namibian communities, especially the youth and called on community members to report people who transporting drugs in Namibia.

The minister also used the official opening to remind the police force of the upcoming elections and said the Namibian police have a big task to maintain law and order during this election period. ” You have to act fairly towards all citizens of this country. Don’t be influenced by anybody. You have to execute your work as it should be, without fear of any intimidation. Don’t hesitate to effect arrests on any person or persons who may make him or herself guilty of any offence that might emanate prior, during and after the elections.
