’No More Time for Uneducated Sports Administrators’ – Veii

“The habitual trend of every Tom, Dick and Harry ascending to the top seats of sports administration should come to an end, it’s time for our administrators to acquire the needed education in order to head various institutions,” said Dr Vetumbuavi Veii, Director of Sport in the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sports and Culture, speaking at the opening ceremony of the FIFA Administration Course at NFA Football House in Windhoek.

“The current sports acts are being reviewed to ensure that sports administrators are well certified, this is to ensure that administrators understand the importance of accountability as far as financial responsibility is concerned. The issue of interference must also be clarified because when government gives funds it’s okay, but when government wants to know how the funds have been utilised, its interference,” he said

“The only way we will be able to take our sport to greater height is if the participants take the skills development offered seriously. Please after this course make sure you make a contribution to the game of football,”

The course, which has participants from the recently NPL promoted teams and first division, is being held under the auspices of the NFA education department, aimed at building the capacity of the clubs in the country.

The course will take the participants through topics such as FIFA and its development programme, doping, events management, planning member association, club management, marketing and communication among others.

FIFA Instructor, Frederick Mngomezulu, who is also the Chief Executive Office of National Football Association of Swaziland, is facilitating the course. FIFA Instructor and NFA Secretary General, Barry Rukoro, FIFA Instructor, Mathew Haikali and National Instructor, Roger Kambatuka will assist him.
