Ohangwena hosts NSSU mass meeting

ONGWEDIVA: The Namibia Schools’ Sports Union (NSSU) in the Ohangwena Region will hold its annual meeting for teachers on 24 January.

Chairperson of the NSSU in that region, Vaino Shimutwikeni told Nampa on Friday that two teachers per school from all over the region are anticipated to attend the meeting scheduled for the Eenhana Multi-purpose Centre.

“Teachers will discuss, deliberate and reflect on the 2014 sporting activities to pave the route for the 2015 sports activities in the region,” Shimutwikeni stated.

He said the meeting is necessary because new sports codes will be introduced within the Ohangwena NSSU.

These codes are rugby and tennis.

Other items to be discussed during the meeting are the annual teachers’ sports tournament, coaching clinics for the various codes as well as training of athletes in the region.

“We will also look at how best we can make sure the region does well in all NSSU sporting codes annually,” said Shimutwikeni.

Meanwhile, athletics activities are underway, with the regional competition set to take place on 28 February.
