Ohangwena Trounce Kavango in Thriller

A second half goal from Isak Titus was enough to secure Ohangwena Region a 2 – 1 victory in a pulsating encounter played in front of an appreciative crowd on Friday afternoon.

The hard-running defender capitalised from the ball-watching rear-guard of Kavango, which allowed a cross from the left to reach the onrushing Titus who had the simplest task to tip the ball past the outstretched ams of goalkeeper Gerhard Kawiwa for the winner.

Earlier in the first half Ohangwena striker Ferdinand Nghikufe, who later switched to defender in the second half, had the crowd roaring after he chipped Kavango goalie Kawiwa for the opening goal of the match.

The match became a ding-dong affair as both teams searched for goals and Kavango, despite their slight dominance in the middle of the field, found the Ohangwena defence too tight to penetrate.

But it was only a matter of time before live-wire winger Risto Ndalipo blasted a low drive past Peter Amunyela to level matters for Kavango.

The match, probably the most exciting of the day, was never short of entertainment as both sets of players thrilled the enthusiastic crowd with excellent ball artistry.

It appeared as if the encounter was headed for a 1-all draw before Titus popped up to secure the three points for team from the far north.

Man of The Match Felix Kazungo receives the award from NFA Exco member Saka Ngalangi.
