Okahandja man allegedly stabbed dead by girlfriend

OTJIWARONGO; A 34-year-old woman is expected to appear in the Okahandja Magistrate’s Court Tuesday afternoon for the alleged killing of her 27-year-old boyfriend.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Crime Investigations’ Co-ordinator, Deputy Commissioner Moses Khairabeb told Nampa in an interview on Tuesday that the woman was arrested on Sunday night as a suspect in the murder.

“She was arrested in connection with the death of her boyfriend who succumbed to stab wounds that Sunday night,” said Khairabeb.

He said the deceased has been identified as Keith Kenneth Khoaseb.

His next-of-kin are already informed of his death, he added.

Khairabeb explained that the deceased and the suspect were in a relationship, and they have two minor children together.

It is alleged that a physical fight broke out between Khoaseb and his girlfriend at a shebeen in Okahandja where the two had been seen drinking earlier that Sunday.

Khairabeb said Khoaseb was seen kicking and punching his girlfriend outside the shebeen at about 19H45.

The girlfriend allegedly pulled out a pocket knife during the fight and stabbed Khoaseb three times – once in the chest, and then on his right hand and left shoulder.

Khairabeb said the cause of the fight is still unknown.

Khoaseb was taken to the Okahandja State Hospital and died shortly upon arrival.

Police investigations continue.
