Okahandja to Host National Enduro Series

The seventh round of the Bank Windhoek Namibian National Enduro Series will take place on Saturday, 20 September 2014 at Farm Ravensburg in the Okahandja district, 10km from Gross Barmen.

“This year has seen some great events and really skillful riding by the ever-growing field of riders who participate in the various classes. So with the season coming to its climax, we can expect another memorable event in the Bank Windhoek National Enduro Series,” said National Enduro Club Chairman, Gunter Brettschneider.

The course length will be 45km and the National Bike and Quad classes will need to complete four laps, while the support classes will do three laps.

This will be second last event for the season and the championship race is therefore set to heat up for the series podium places in this event. Riders need to stay consistent as seven of the eight race series count towards the championship. The worst result will be the throw-away, but the risk of a DNF (Did Not Finish) is always there, as the series and terrain take their toll on riders and machines.

With nine classes set to run during this event, entries look set to again show the growth of the sport with riders from the all over Namibia joining the fun.

Saturday’s racing will start at 07h00 with documentation and scruteneering for non-Windhoek riders. Windhoek riders can do the documentation on Thursday, 18 September 2014 in the afternoon from 17h30 to 18h30 at Pupkewitz Honda, corner of Independence Avenue and Marien Ngouabi Street.

The directions to Farm Ravensburg are as follows: From Windhoek take the B1 towards Okahandja. In Okahandja turn left onto the D1972 and drive for approximately 36 km, passing Gross Barmen until you reach the event signage. Spectators are aised to bring along food and refreshments as catering will not be available at the venue.

The prize-giving will take place at the race venue after the race. “The public is invited to come out in numbers and enjoy the day with us. There’s no catering during the event, so come out, have a braai in the bush and enjoy some enduro action,” Brettschneider added.

The event is co-sponsored by Moths Transport. For further information, please consult the website www.namibianenduro.com where more information and registration forms are available.
