Okatana Councillor in Court

THE Okatana constituency councillor, Rosalia Shilenga, who refused to accept a summons to appear and testify as a State witness in the assault case of a father and his two sons, finally appeared in the Oshakati Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

Magistrate Mika Namweya warned Shilenga that she would be arrested if she ever ignored an order to appear in court again.

William Mbangula and his two sons are facing two charges of crimen injuria and assault levelled against them by Kanisius Shiindi. The three accused were arrested on 13 January last year at Omatando village before they were released the following day on a warning.

Both Mbangula and Shiindi had been claiming the headmanship of Omatando Village Number Two for years, but were both not acknowledged by the Ongwediva town council, under whose administration the village falls.

The case was postponed to 25 November for further investigations. The prosecutor is Lusepani Tatelo.
