Ondangwa Urban Constituency gets new Swapo leadership

ONDANGWA: Members of the Swapo-Party in the Ondangwa Urban Constituency on Saturday held an elective conference to select the members of the executive committee of their newly-established constituency.

This was confirmed by the newly-elected coordinator of the constituency, Sem Nangolo at Ondangwa on Monday.

Nangolo, who is also a member of the Ondangwa Town Council, was the Swapo-Party district coordinator at the Ondangwa Constituency before the fourth delimitation commission divided Ondangwa into two constituencies – Ondangwa Urban and Ondangwa Rural – last year.

“The contest for the position of a district coordinator was between Kahenge Dengeinge and myself, whereby I received 46 votes and he got 14 votes,” Nangolo said.

Local businesswoman Fenny Nanyeni was elected as the mobiliser of the constituency after emerging victorious over Julia Kapia and Helena Iitula, who vied for the same position during Saturday’s conference.

“Joseph Kapembe was elected the treasurer of the district unopposed,” Nangolo noted.

Oshana regional councillor for the Okatyali Constituency, Joseph Mupetami presided over the election of office bearers for the Swapo-Party Ondangwa Urban Constituency during the elective conference.

According to Nangolo, a total of 60 delegates who are all paid-up members of the Swapo-Party from across the Ondangwa district attended the conference.

It could not be established whether members of the Swapo-Party leadership for the Ondangwa Rural Constituency have also been elected.
