Ongwediva IUM hosts Students’ Inspiration Night

ONGWEDIVA: The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the International University of Management (IUM)’s Ongwediva Campus on Tuesday hosted a Students’ Inspirational Night to prompt commitment and discipline amongst students at the institution.

“A motivated and well-disciplined student is likely to achieve high academic performance,” said the IUM secretary-general of the SRC, Hendrik Theofelus, while speaking at the beginning of the students’ inspirational gathering.

Chairperson of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) Northern Branch, Tomas Iindji was the keynote speaker of the event.

He suggested the country’s economic heroes/heroines to come also from the IUM Ongwediva Campus, adding that the campus would only produce quality professionals if its students take their education always serious.

Iindji wants also to see the IUM Ongwediva campus students to be procedural and work hard for everything they be going to during their studies and after graduating from the institution.

“Do not rush – you will crash,” Iindji cautioned the students, while on the other hand urging them to be step-by-step in all their endeavours and not to surrender in case they encounter failure.

The NCCI Northern Branch chairperson used the same platform to call on the IUM students to appreciate the sacrifices of their parents in availing the means for them to be able to attend school.

“Let us thank our parents for sacrificing their resources in order to send you to IUM for further studies, despite the fact that many of them never had the opportunity to undergo tertiary education like you here,” Iindji cited.

Other speakers, including the IUM’s humanity lecturer Maria Atejioye, encouraged the students to be vision and purpose-driven personalities before and after completing their studies.

“I want to see you shining in Namibia and transform what you learn here into action after graduating from this institution,” urged Atejioye.
