Only qualified coaches to coach as of next football season

WINDHOEK: The final block for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) C-License coaching course will take place next week at Football House in the capital.

A total of 17 local coaches went through the first phase of the CAF C Licence coaching course in May this year.

The coaches are being introduced to aspects like the NFA’s coaching and licensing system; how to conduct fitness, and technical tests; how to plan for training sessions; basic football techniques, as well as shooting and warm-up programmes; youth training; introduction to game systems and tactics; the importance of players’ conditioning; and the Laws of the Game.

Coaches who attended the first phase in May, and a new group of invited coaches will meet from Monday to Friday for the course.

Namibia Football Association (NFA) Education Officer, Timothy Tjongarero was quoted in a media statement availed to Nampa on Tuesday that examinations on the first phase will be both practical and theoretical, with the practicals taking place at the NFA Technical Centre.

“The examinations will be divided into two groups, with the first group being for those coaches who have attended the first block of the course during May, while there will also be equivalent examinations for special invited coaches,” he said.

The NFA education officer emphasises that the invited coaches are the only ones who have shown willingness to upgrade their qualifications through the CAF amnesty programme.

He said the NFA is under pressure to use only appropriately licensed coaches in accordance with the CAF Licensing System to coach as of the next football season.

The first group of coaches are : Stephen Aochamub (SKW), Gilroy Xoagub (Special Olympics), Michael Pienaar (Orlando Pirates), Collen Gusha (King Pele Santos), Tobias Herman (NFA Women’s Department), Konis Asino (Ramblers), Erastus Ndjavera (Tura Magic), Phillemon Shikwambi (NSSU), Albert !Ganeb (Tura Kosmos), Limpo Haragaeb (Limbo Football Academy), Lesley !Uirab (NSSU), Rodney !Kaneb (Omaruru Youth Development), Nelson Musisheni (Air Masters), Sililo Carlos (Katima Wanderers), Kanyanso Mathews (Eastern Chiefs), Keutsepilemang Ndebele (Witbank TUT) and Silas Haindongo (Air Masters).

The invited coaches are Dawid Snewe (United Stars), Mogale Naruseb (Rundu Chiefs), Sydney Plaatjies (Blue Boys), Paulus Shipanga (Blue Waters), Gotlieb Katiko (Desert Rollers), Ambrosius Tjituka (Tura Magic), Maleagi Ngarizemo (Young African), Knowledge Ipinge (Blue Waters), Abiater Chicco Karno and RB Ruiter (Touch & Go), Alfredo Luzilo and Nkenny Salazar (African Stars).
