Otjiwarongo NDF institutional worker stabbed to death

OTJIWARONGO: A 33-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend at Tsaraxa-Aibes informal settlement on Saturday evening.

The spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha identified the deceased as Leonard Pahukeni.

Pahukeni worked for the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) Military Base at Otjiwarongo as an institutional worker.

“His next of kin are informed of his death,” said Mbeha.

It is alleged Pahukeni and his girlfriend had lived together since last year December in Tsaraxa-Aibes informal settlement at the boyfriend’s house.

Mbeha told Nampa in an interview on Sunday that the deceased and his girl had just returned from a birthday party at about 21h00, and a fight broke out inside their house.

The police officer said during a fight, the suspect pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed Pahukeni once in the left side of the chest.

Pahukeni tried to escape by walking out of the house screaming for help, but he fell-down on the doorstep and died there.

It is alleged at that time, the 23-year-old suspect was still following him holding a knife in her hands.

However, upon seeing Pahukeni falling to the down, she then dropped the knife in the kitchen.

According to Mbeha, fresh blood was still visible on the suspect’s hands when the police apprehended her.

A murder case (CR no. 107/01/2015) has been opened against her at the Otjiwarongo Police Station.

She is expected to appear in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Police investigations continue.
