Over 100 Exhibitors At Crayfish Festival

Over 100 corporate entities and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are showcasing their products and services at the 7th Crayfish Festival underway here.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Luumlderitz Town Council, Aunie Gebhard told Nampa on Saturday that the number of exhibitors has increased from about 80 in 2013.

The festival ended yesterday and was held under the theme ‘Celebrating Crayfish in diversity.’

The festival was initiated in 2008 to market Luumlderitz and to show what the town has to offer to visitors, investors and its people.

Gebhard said other aims of the festival are to promote trade, increase investment opportunities and bring the Luumlderitz community closer to the marine resources.

“Crayfish is our delicacy and we want to make sure that local people have access to it and not only to export it,” she said.

Gerhard expressed happiness about the turnout of over 500 visitors per day to the festival over the past four days to support the exhibitors. She noted that the exhibition space is very small, and there is an opportunity to increase the exhibition space and increase the number of exhibitors after the completion of the old power station nearby.
