Oviritje Artists Open Calendar to Mobilise Votes for Dj Max-T

Oviritje artists and fans are converging Katutura Community hall tomorrow night to welcome 2015 in style with an Oviritje concert.

DJ Max-T, the event organiser, says the concert is also meant to mobilise sms votes for him having for the second time entered Namibia Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) in the Best Radio Entertainer category, as well as for one of the country’s leading Oviritje groups, Ongoro Nomundu for Best Performers category. “We did the same show last year and this year is going to be bigger and better,” adds Max-T, an entertainment radio DJ for the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC)’s Otjiherero Language Service, which has been renamed the Omurari wOndjivisiro Ombaranga (Broad-based Broadcasting Channel), a popular name that the service has learned from its listeners. DJ Max-T is the current radio entertainment king having coveted this NAMAs category with its inauguration last year, thanks to the popular votes he received from Oviritje fans and the language service listeners in general. This is a feat he hopes to repeat this year hence the concert tomorrow.

The likes of Diop, Rax, Muntjangatjike, George, Ongoro Nomundu, Sake Kavezepa, Tjonga Tjongile and Tjinaa are expected to be entertaining the audience. “Expect no disappointment from our artists as we give the best performance,” notes the Oviritje of Namibia Cultural Union (Onacu) President Muchina Mello Hoveka. Tickets for the concert goes for N$50 but N$40 for those who can prove SMSing a vote for Max-T and Ongoro Nomundu. Doors open at five O’clock (17h00) and the show starts kick eight O’clock (20h00) until late.”Come one, come all, let’s celebrate and welcome the new year together the Oviritje way,” entices Hoveka.
