Ovitoto man allegedly hangs himself

OTJIWARONGO: A 23-year-old man was found hanging from a tree on Sunday at Okuue village in Ovitoto area in the Omatako Constituency.

Okuue village is situated 70 kilometres south-east of Okahandja in the Otjozondjupa Region. The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Maureen Mbeha told Nampa in an interview on Tuesday the deceased has been identified as Nguundja Kangumine.

His close relatives are already informed of his death, she said. Mbeha said Kangumine was found hanging from a tree dead, with his touser’s belt tied around his neck on Sunday morning.

“It is suspected the deceased had hanged himself on a tree with his trouser’s belt in the hours between 19H30 on Saturday, and 06H30 on Sunday morning,” said Mbeha. Kangumine did not leave behind any suicide note, said Mbeha, adding that there is no foul play suspected so far. Police investigations are continuing.
