Pensioner Stabbed to Death Over Woman

A 51-year-old man made a first appearance in the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder.

According to the weekly crime report, Fillemon Shikesho was confronted by his 74-year-old victim, Josua Petrus, about his relationship with the deceased’s girlfriend. The woman in question was allegedly also the girlfriend of Shikesho.

A fight then apparently broke out between them and Shikesho tried to flee, but ran into a wire fence and he fell down.

Petrus then allegedly took out a traditional knife (omukonda) which Shikesho managed to take from him and stabbed Petrus with his own knife. Petrus died on the scene.

A case of attempted murder was opened against a 21-year-old male at Tsintsabis after 20-year-old Joseph Hauwanga was shot in the right foot and right ankle.

The incident is said to have happened at a farm in Kavango West at about 20h00 on Thursday, 31 July after a quarrel erupted between Hauwanga and Tangeni Nestor, and Nestor took his shotgun and shot Hauwanga.

Nestor already appeared in the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Another case of murder was reported at Ozohambo village in the Otjinene area where 26-year-old Dina Anton was stabbed at least eight times with a knife.

It is alleged Anton ended her relationship with Johannes Katjiri, 31, for the second time and went to his house to fetch her belongings in the company of her sister. He however refused to hand over the belongings of the deceased and a quarrel ensued between them and Katjiri stabbed Anton in the chest, back and arms.

The deceased died on the scene. Anton leaves behind six children that she had with Katjiri who already made a first appearance before a magistrate.

Another case of murder was recorded at the Mariental Police Station after 27-year-old David Bock stabbed 48-year-old Sagarias Rooi to death with a broken bottle in the neck over a bottle of wine.

It is alleged Rooi bought his girlfriend a 750ml bottle of wine from which Bock also wanted to drink and was prevented from drinking.

It was further stated in the Namibian Police crime report that Rooi and his girlfriend then proceeded to their house and were followed by Bock who stabbed Rooi after a quarrel.

Bock already made a first appearance in the Mariental Magistrate’s Court.

A case of culpable homicide was opened after a 10-month-old baby girl was discovered dead at the Five Rand Location in Kamanjab.

It is alleged that the baby, Vezembea Vetjoza, was lying in bed with her mother’s sister and that the mother saw that one of the suspect’s legs was hanging over the baby. When the mother of the baby removed the leg from her baby she discovered that the baby was not breathing.

The baby was declared dead on the scene and a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
