Pohamba off to Lesotho

WINDHOEK: President Hifikepunye Pohamba left the country this morning from Eros Airport for the Kingdom of Lesotho where he will hold talks with that country’s Prime Minister Motsoahae Thomas Thabane and leaders of the Coalition Government.

Pohamba undertake the mission in his capacity as the Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community’s Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, which is necessitated by the consultations undertaken by SADC Ministerial Troika of the Organ led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah held from 22-23 May 2014 in Maseru, Lesotho.

President Pohamba is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and the SADC Deputy Executive Secretary, Dr. Thembinkosi Mhlongo.

The Kingdom of Lesotho will take take over the Chairmanship of the Organ during the SADC Heads of State and Government to be held in Zimbabwe in August this year.

Pohamba and his delegation are expected to return today.

Pohamba is undertaking the mission in his capacity as the chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC)’s Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation.

The visit is necessitated by the consultations undertaken by the SADC Ministerial Troika of the Organ led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah from 22 to 23 May 2014 in Maseru, Lesotho.

Pohamba is being accompanied Nandi-Ndaitwah and the SADC Deputy Executive Secretary, Dr Thembinkosi Mhlongo.

The Kingdom of Lesotho will take over the chairmanship of the organ during the SADC Heads of State and Government Summit in Zimbabwe during August this year.

The delegation is expected to return on Thursday.
