Pohamba presents Geingob to northern electorate

OSHAKATI : President Hifikepunye Pohamba presented the Swapo-Party presidential candidate Dr Hage Geingob to thousands of supporters who gathered at Oshakati Independence Stadium for the party’s election campaign rally on Saturday.

Pohamba was impressed by the large crowd of supporters who attended the rally from all over northern Namibia and beyond.

The Head of State described it the biggest turnout since the Swapo-Party started its 2014 election campaign rallies.

He called on those attended the rally to go to the polls on the 28th of this month in similar big numbers to give the ruling Swapo-Party and Geingob a resounding victory.

‘When you vote for the Swapo-Party you vote for peace-stability and socio-economic development,’ Pohamba, who is at the same time the president of the Swapo-Party, told his audience.

He, however pointed out that all the people of Namibia deserve applaud for having kept Namibia peacefully since the first day the country attained independence in 1990.

According to him, the Swapo-Party government has done a lot in terms of the development of the country and it will continue doing so if given another mandate to be in charge of the administration of the country.

Pohamba has also presented the Swapo-Party National Assembly candidates, who were in attendence, to the rally participants.

‘There will be a new government next year and I prefer that government to be led by comrad Geingob. He is the second man in government- he is a second man in the Swapo-Party,’ Pohamba explained.

Some 18 former members of the opposition parties in the Oshana Region were issued with Swapo-Party membership cards at the rally.

These ex-opposition parties’ members are 10 from the just-formed Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF) and four each from the official opposition Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) and Congress of Democrats (CoD), respectively.
