Pohamba Shifeta urges young people to participate in sports and healthy activities

OMUNGWELUME: Environment and Tourism Deputy Minister, Pohamba Shifeta has urged young people to become involved in sports activities and to refrain from abusing alcohol and drugs.

Speaking at Omungwelume settlement in the Ongenga Constituency of Ohangwena Region on Sunday, Shifeta said he wants to see more young athletes participating in the Simon Gabriel Shokonawa Marathon race.

The marathon will be held on 31 January, with the race starting at Ongwediva in the Oshana Region and finishing at Omungwelume in the Ohangwena Region.

Shifeta and business personalities such as Erkan “Tolitokini” Ndume, David “Kambwa” Sheehama and Fritz “Shetweni” Hamalwa were at Omungwelume on Sunday to affirm their support for the marathon race.

The deputy minister said the Simon Gabriel Shokonawa Marathon is an opportunity for the young people of Namibia to explore their long-distance running talents.
