Pohamba speaks at Ruacana

RUACANA; President Hifikepunye Pohamba has called on Namibian citizens to join hands to overcome the challenges of poverty, unemployment, and underdevelopment.

He made the call while addressing the Swapo-Party election campaign rally at Ruacana in the Omusati Region on Sunday.

Pohamba also encouraged Namibian voters to vote overwhelmingly for the Swapo-Party and its presidential candidate, Hage Geingob, in the elections due to take place on 28 November.

“I call upon you all to give the Swapo-Party another mandate to lead our country and to continue implementing policies and programmes aimed at improving the living conditions of our people,” he said.

The Head of State, who is also president of the Swapo-Party, pointed out that the party will continue to promote the policy of national reconciliation.

“With your support, the Swapo-Party will continue to maintain national unity, peace and security in our country,” Pohamba said.

Speaking at the same rally, Swapo-Party coordinator for the Omusati Region, Erginus Endjala stated that there are 139 760 registered voters in the region.

Endjala said he believes 99.9 per cent of the said registered voters are members of the Swapo-Party and all of them are going to vote for the ruling party.

Two former supporters of the official opposition Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP), Julia Justa and Tresia Immanuel were issued with membership cards for the Swapo-Party during the rally.

Justa was the RDP’s deputy coordinator for the Omusati Region before she was replaced by Johanna Dilu during the last RDP regional election.
