Police Officer Caught Shoplifting

A female police officer in the Erongo Region will soon face an internal disciplinary hearing after she was caught shoplifting on Tuesday afternoon.

The officer, who is based in Arandis, apparently tried to steal goods worth N$527 from Pep store at the town but was caught red-handed while trying to sneak out the goods. The officer was not on duty when she committed the alleged crime.

The officer’s identity cannot revealed as the manager of the shop did not want to file a case against the officer, due to the lengthy time attached to court cases. However, the shoplifter was apparently ordered to pay N$1 572

Although no official confirmation could be obtained as the chief of the Namibian Police, Inspector General Sebastian Ndeitunga had not yet been briefed about the matter, police sources at Walvis Bay told New Era that the officer will soon face an internal disciplinary hearing.
