Police officer who killed a man and wounded another one at a night club to go on trial in High Court

WINDHOEK: Windhoek-based police officer Justin Munsu Simataa, who allegedly killed a man and wounded another one at a nightclub in Khomasdal in 2012, will go on trial in the High Court here next year.

The trial of the 28-year-old alleged killer cop will start in the Windhoek High Court on 09 February, and is set to run until 27 February 2015.

This was said when he made another appearance during a pre-trial for case management purposes before High Court Judge Nate Ndauendapo yesterday morning.

In the matter, Simataa faces charges of murder, attempted murder, as well as charges that he negligently discharged a firearm and maliciously damaged property.

The accused allegedly killed Congolese national Maelfirmino Fabrice, who was a naturalised Namibian citizen, by shooting him with a pistol at the nightclub on 26 October 2012.

Simataa is free on bail of N.dollars 5 000, and stricter bail conditions have also been imposed on him.
