Polytechnic aims for excellence, effectiveness: Tjivikua

WINDHOEK: There is a need for quality staff to carry out the mandate of the Polytechnic of Namibia (PoN), its rector Tjama Tjivikua says.

He made the remark during the official opening of the institution’s academic year yesterday.

Tjivikua said they aim to be efficient in their service delivery; have an effective resource management in place; change the management, as well as the name of PoN to the Namibian University of Science and Technology, among other goals and special initiatives.

He noted that the PoN is working hard towards a culture of organisational excellence, effectiveness and stewardship.

Tjivikua said that that undergraduate education will continue to be the cornerstone and key mission of higher education, but education and research together are essential and inseparable elements of the institution’s mission.
