Power concerns force Bidvest matches to start earlier

WINDHOEK: The kick-off times for this weekend’s Bidvest Namibia Cup matches at the Sam Nujoma Stadium have been changed due to possible power outages.

These matches are part of Round 32 of the 2015 Bidvest Namibia Cup, and will now commence one hour earlier.

“The matches were initially scheduled to start from 14h00 onwards on both days but due to consistent and continuous power outages at the monumental venue in the heart of Katutura, the organisers felt it necessary to move the games to earlier times to avoid blackouts during the late afternoon games,” read a statement issued by the Namibia Football Association (NFA) on Thursday.

The game between Swakopmund Football Club (FC) and Real Fighters will start at 13h00, to be followed by Otjiwarongo FC against Java-Java at 15h00, and Tura Magic vs Orlando Pirates at 17h00.

On Sunday, Eleven Arrows and PUBS FC will kick off the action at 13h00, before UNAM and Blue Boys clash at 15h00, followed by a local derby involving two premiership sides Civics and Rebels at 17h00.

The matches at the Oscar Norich Stadium in Tsumeb will go ahead as scheduled – Saturday: Young Chiefs and Ogongo United at 10h00; Oshikoto NamPol vs Omaheke NamPol at 12h00; Cuca Tops vs African Stars at 14h00; Tigers vs Western Stars at 16h00; Shooting Stars vs Black Africa at 18h00; and Citizens vs Benfica at 20h00.

Sunday: Blue Waters vs Vietnam Rangers at 09h00; Touch & Go vs Ohangwena NamPol at 11h00; Mighty Gunners vs Kangweru Black Tops at 13h00; and United Stars vs Julinho Sporting FC at 15h00.
