Power Outage in Oshana, Ohangwena

THE national power utility (NamPower) has announced a power outage in Oshana and Ohangwena region this Sunday.

Hendrik Espag, NamPower area superintendent for the North, said NamPower intends to extend the Omatando substation by building a tower and a bus bar due to growth of electricity supply in these areas and the demand for quality service.

“The reason for this power outage is to allow NamPower to carry out the upgrading and maintenance of equipment at the Onuno and Omatando substations,” said Espag.

He also said the work cannot be performed while power lines and electrical points are treated as live during the time of the upgrade.

The areas that will be mostly affected in Oshana region are: Omatando, Oshakati and Ongwediva, while in Ohangwena region Omatando, Efundja and Onuno will experience outrages.

Oshakati and Ongwediva will be without electricity between 06h00 and 09h00 in the morning and again from 16h00 to 19h00.

Omatando, Efundja and Onuno will be without electricity from 06h00 until 19h00.

“NamPower wishes to apologise to its customers and the public in general for any inconvenience that might arise from this power outage,” he said.
