Premier League Outcome Kept On Hold

The MTC Namibia Premier League must be kept on hold until the court case over the curtailed match between African Stars and Orlando Pirates has been decided, a judge ordered in the Windhoek High Court on Thursday.

African Stars took the Namibia Football Association and the Namibia Premier League to court to have the league stopped until they hear Stars’ case. Stars want their abandoned match against Orlando Pirates to be replayed in its entirety.

According to Acting Judge Petrus Unengu’s interim order, the NPL is not allowed to announce a league champion until the issue has been resolved.

The postponed match has also disrupted the year-end Namibia Premier League awards which were due to be held on Friday evening. The NPL chairman JJ Doeseb on Wednesday announced that the awards ceremony had been postponed indefinitely.
