President Hifikepunye Pohamba inaugurates Dr Abraham Iyambo Senior Secondary School

OSHIKUNDE: President Hifikepunye Pohamba has called on Namibian learners to do their best at all times as the nation expects them to become critical thinkers and acquire problem-solving skills through education.

Pohamba made the call on Thursday while officially inaugurating Dr Abraham Iyambo Senior Secondary School (SSS) in the Ohangwena Region’s Ohakafiya Circuit.

The school is named after the late Education Minister Dr Abraham Iyambo, who died whilst in the United Kingdom some two years ago.

It caters for Grades 11 and 12 and was previously known as Oshikunde SSS, but was renamed after a decision by community members to do so when the school was expanded and hostel blocks added earlier this year.

A total of 404 Grade 11 and 12 learners have attended Dr Abraham Iyambo Senior Secondary School since 17 February this year.

Pohamba urged the learners to make use of the resources at their disposal by performing well in the examinations and to commit themselves to achieving their academic goals.

The Ohangwena Region was rated fourth in the 2013 National Examinations for Grade 10 and Grade 12 nationally.
