President Hifikepunye to pay a State visit to Senegal

WINDHOEK: President Hifikepunye Pohamba will this week pay a reciprocal State visit to Senegal after the visit of Senegalese president Macky Sall to Namibia last August.

The president is scheduled to leave for the West African country on Thursday, departing from the Hosea Kutako International Airport in the afternoon.

The State visit will coincide with that country’s 54th independence anniversary celebrations.

Senegal forms part of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and is also a member of the African Union (AU).

Pohamba’s entourage will consist of Minister of Foreign Affairs Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah; Trade and Industry Minister Calle Schlettwein; Special Advisor to the Foreign Affairs Minister, Tuliameni Kalomoh; the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Selma Ashipala-Musavyi; and other senior Government officials.

The Head of State and his delegation are expected to return on Saturday.
