President launches Swapo-Party’s NPC which will be incharge of preparations for Presidential and National Assembly elections in Nov

WINDHOEK: President Hifikepunye Pohamba launched the Swapo-Party’s National Preparatory Committee (NPC), which will be in charge of the preparations for the Presidential and National Assembly elections in November this year, yesterday.

The NPC under the chairmanship of Pohamba as president of the party, deputised by his vice-president Hage Geingob, consists of five sub-committees.

These are the administration and finance; logistics and transport; protocol and security; information, publicity and voter education; and strategy, planning and legal matters sub-committees.

Pohamba said it is vital for Swapo to prepare well and to position itself for a landslide victory in the upcoming elections, adding that the establishment of a dedicated structure which will take charge of the preparations for the elections has become imperative.

The sub-committee for administration and finance is chaired by Immanuel Ngatjizeko who is deputised by Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila with eight other additional members; while the sub-committee for logistics and transport is chaired by Jerry Ekandjo with Agnes Tjongarero as his deputy and five additional members.

The sub-committee for protocol and security is chaired by Erkki Nghimtina, deputised by Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah with seven additional members; and the sub-committee for information, publicity and voter education is chaired by Helmuth Angula deputised by Katrina Hanse-Himarwa with 10 additional members.

The sub-committee for strategy, planning and legal matters is headed by Nahas Angula, with Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana as his deputy, and nine additional members.
