PTT says ruling party remains authentic driving force for social change in Namibia

WINDHOEK: The Swapo Party Think Tank (SPTT) says the ruling party remains the sole and authentic driving force for social change in Namibia for the benefit of all citizens.

The SPTT, an advisory body of the Swapo Party, held its first meeting of the year in the capital at the weekend to review the party´s programmes and to formulate and present proposals on political, economic, social and cultural issues for consideration by the party leadership.

In a press statement availed to Nampa yesterday, SPTT Chairman Dr Kalumbi Shangula said the meeting also reviewed the implementation of the 2009 Swapo Party election manifesto.

He said the 2014 election manifesto will also showcase Swapo as a party with a track record of having advocated for freedom for the oppressed with proper policies that practically address social justice for all Namibians especially those in rural areas, informal settlements, the women, the youth, the workers, the elderly and other vulnerable groups.

The Think Tank meeting was officially opened by Swapo Party Secretary-General Nangolo Mbumba, who directed members of the advisory body to commit themselves to the assignments that have been entrusted to them by the party.
