Quinton-Steele Botes passes away in Windhoek

WINDHOEK: Well known sports Consultant Quinton-Steel Botes passed away in Windhoek last night. The 54 year old Botes was suffering from cancer since he was diagnosed with Multiple myeloma during September 2007.

Botes was involved in more than athletics as he made it his live mission after being diagnosed himself with cancer, to assist others through the QSB Cancer Fund, that was not in a position to sustain themselves financially. To raise funds Botes embarked on various fun days, where he got the corporate world involved by means of sponsors. One of his latest ventures was the Dragon Boat Race on the Heja Lodge dam, to financially assist various orphanages and children’s homes.

Not less than 50 cancer patients benefitted from the QSB Fund to the value of N.dollar 500 000.00.

Apart from regular athletic training clinics across the country, Botes was also a motivational speaker, sports reporter on various radio and television stations as well as brand ambassador for businesses like Marathon Sugar, Coca-Cola, Avis, Hyundai and Old Mutual to mention a few.

Botes was born April 30 1960 in Usakos in the Erongo Region.
