RA and Brandberg Construction partner to build road in Omusati

WINDHOEK: The Roads Authority (RA) on Wednesday signed an agreement with the Brandberg Construction company to build Section One of the District Road 3635 from Amwaanda to Omutambomawe in the Omusati Region.

The agreement was signed in the capital by Acting RA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rosalinde Nakale and Brandberg Construction owner Piet Boshoff.

Nakale said during the signing ceremony that Section One of that road is 50.6 kilometres-long and, will be constructed at a cost of N.dollars 54,2 million.

This construction is fully-financed by the Namibian Government.

Brandberg Construction is the main plant contractor on this project, and will partner with IWG Construction and Bur-Seun Civils as small and medium enterprises’ (SMEs) contractors for earthworks and concrete works, respectively.

Nakale said the construction of that road is expected to create temporary employment to approximately 150 men and women within the project area.

“The construction of this road will provide all-weather access to several government institutions such as schools, clinics and police offices,” she stated.

The construction commenced on Wednesday this week, and is expected to be completed within 18 months.
