OTJIWARONGO: An 82-year-old livestock farmer in Grootfontein district allegedly hanged himself with a rope inside the garage of his farmhouse on Sunday morning.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Maureen Mbeha told Nampa in an interview on Monday that the deceased have been identified as Cornelius Christian Pistorius.

Pistorius is the owner of Farm Nuitsas Noord situated 70 kilometres east of Grootfontein in the Otjozondjupa Region.

Mbeha said that Pistorius was found hanging by his grandson inside the garage of their farmhouse on Sunday morning at 07H30, adding that a rope was still tied around his neck.

“He did not leave behind any suicide note, and an inquest case has been opened at the Maroelaboom Police Station,” said the police spokesperson.

Police investigations are continuing in the matter.
